Perhaps the most famous wizard in the video slot industry appears before us once more. The journey started back in 2018 when Microgaming partner Triple Edge Studios released their Book of Oz slot. It provided the classic book slot experience and players loved it for it. We ourselves have some fond memories of this game. Time past and Triple Edge Studios wanted to expand this title, so afterwards we saw slots like Book of Oz Lock’ N Spin and Sister of Oz. The saga continues with the latest Legacy of Oz slot. The green wizard brings back some beloved game elements, while still maintaining that freshness of a new game. We also had a great chance to interview Mike Bauerlein of Triple Edge Studios, so keep on reading to find out more about Triple Edge Studios and their latest Legacy of Oz slot.

Legacy of Oz Slot Review
Interview with Triple Edge representative Mike Bauerlein
First of all, thank you for taking your time to sit down with us. We’ve been following the progress of Triple Edge Studios with great interest, but could you, please, in a few words describe Triple Edge Studios to our newest readers, who may not be so familiar with it?
Today Triple Edge Studios operates across multiple locations with over 60 staff, but we began with just one studio and a handful of personnel. We have mathematicians, internal QAs, creative designers, technical designers and developers. We always hire with a long-term perspective in mind, putting our prospective team members through a rigorous hiring process. The one thing they all have in common is that they’re all multidisciplinary professionals.
As always, we are interested in the people behind the company name. Could you tell us a bit about your own journey with Triple Edge Studios and your experience in the iGaming industry?
My background is varied and covers different disciplines. I have an undergraduate in digital arts and sciences; my studies were mostly based around computer science and program development mixed in with a raw passion for art. I have a master’s degree in Interactive Entertainment, which is something that usually leads to a career in the video game or film industry. I was actually one of the first few employees back in 2015, programming in Flash! I chose to work for Triple Edge because it allowed me to use my skills in a fun, fast-paced industry and be a part of something from the ground up.
For a lot of us at SixSlots, the first proper experience with Triple Edge Studios was through the Book of Oz. Is this game also on the top of your list, or perhaps you think there is another game that has been overlooked in the past?
Assassin Moon has for sure been the most popular so far and has performed exceptionally well. Our maths team did a great job, keeping the player engaged whether it’s your 1st or 500th spin; it’s still enjoyable and really fun to play.
Speaking of the Book of Oz, a new Legacy of Oz is in the works. How is this project looking so far and can we expect a new sneak peek sometime soon?
Legacy of Oz™ will be coming out in July and has the same great respin features that we've been adding and the same expanding symbol in free spins, so you can get that mystery symbol that expands throughout for big wins. In this game, if you re-trigger in free spins, you get an additional special symbol, and as you keep re-triggering, potentially you could keep unlocking all of these as they land on the reels, so you get more and more tickets.
We believe it’s fair to say, that the partnership with Microgaming has been fruitful. How has this relationship helped you to reach new heights?
Microgaming has been an amazing partner for our distribution of content. We partner exclusively with Microgaming so that we can focus on creating great games that resonate with the market. They give us the bandwidth to distribute the games globally.
We don’t seem to get many plain slots from you. HyperSpins, WowPot, Link&Win - Triple Edge Studios have plenty of slots using these features. How would you rate the experience that you have had using these mechanics?
Market research is very important to us, and we always like to pick up on trends that we're seeing develop, or just things that seem to be strong performers. We enjoy tapping into what it is that people love and giving them the option to experience it over and over.
Gameplay and Payouts
The green wizard most certainly is back, looking better than ever. If you have played the original Book of Oz, then you will feel right at home with the Legacy of Oz slot. We are once again in the chambers of Oz, although now, the game graphically looks much better. The smooth gameplay is experienced on the 5 reels 3 rows set up. Players will need to match symbols on the 10 available paylines. The symbols are making their return from the original title, so perhaps some of you will get a bit nostalgic. As far as remakes go, Legacy of Oz looks great.
A lot of players enjoyed the potential and the volatile nature of the first slot. Fortunately, Legacy of Oz doesn’t deviate far from the same game model. It’s still highly volatile with a max win potential of 5,000x. The default RTP is a bit lower now, but just ever so slightly. The bet range has been made bigger, allowing a chance to place larger stakes. All in all, you can expect a similar gameplay experience to the one found in Book of Oz.
Following up on what Mr Mike Bauerlein said, the Legacy of Oz comes with the renowned expanding symbol Free Spins and the Hyperspins feature. We believe it’s clear to everyone how Free Spins function. Three bonus symbols trigger the Free Spins feature. Before Free Spins one random symbol is selected as the Special Expanding symbol. Whenever these symbols land, they expand to cover the whole reel size. Hyperspins on the other hand, were already in use before they acquired their real name. Hyperspins feature lets you individually spin each reel, so for example if you have landed 2 scatters, you get a chance to spins one of the 3 reels individually, for a chance to trigger the bonus. The price of the spin is determined by the layout of symbols.
Legacy of Oz essentially is a remake of the iconic Book of Oz title. We more or less get the same playing experience, although now it feels more refined. Players will be able to enjoy the classic book slot experience which is fueled by the wonderful Free Spins and Hyperspins. This is not the end of the road for the Oz series, because another Sister of Oz slot is in the works, planned to be released in August 2021. In the meantime, players can enjoy the magical presence of the green wizard on the Legacy of Oz slot.
