The Swedish based provider Play’n GO are seemingly big fans of hard rock. We can understand the patriotism as many renowned metal bands come from this country. The original House of Doom and the new House of Doom 2 The Crypt are both dedicated to the epic doom metal band called Candlemass. This genre of course isn’t for everyone as it comes with a hardcore look and sound, so in most cases, you either love it or hate it. When it comes to rock and metal, Play’n GO can be the real deal, so let’s see what performance can House of Doom 2 The Crypt bring.
This slot is a sequel to the original House of Doom slot. Metalheads enjoyed the House of Doom, but from the regular slot perspective it wasn’t a huge hit, but still, more than enjoyable. Perhaps House of Doom 2 can improve some shortcoming of the prequel, or perhaps some people in Play’n GO are huge Candlemass fans, so they just wanted to create another game. Whatever the case, we will try our best to compare the main differences and come to a conclusion, which part comes out on top.

Gameplay and Payouts
Even though this is a sequel, we have to look at it as a new independent game. House of Doom 2 definitely portrays that hardcore metal look. Devilish would be a good way to describe the looks of it. Once again, purple colour dominates the design while metal music plays in the background. If you enjoy this genre of music then feel free to turn that volume up a bit, as these songs will get you fired up. The graphical improvements haven’t been huge, but House of Doom 2 The Crypt looks a tad bit better.
The symbols of the game have also been revamped. New symbols of House of Doom 2 are a little bit more family-friendly, for a lack of a better word. No longer we got goat skulls and barbed crosses, as the high symbols, also known as Ritual Relic symbols have been switched out by Knives, Nightshade, Candles and Skull. Low symbols still are 10 – A, sporting the same style as before. House of Doom 2 The Crypt comes with the regular 5 x 3 layout, which packs 20 paylines.
Surprisingly Play’n GO didn’t max out the volatility of the slot. House of Doom 2 The Crypt is a medium-high volatility slot (7/10), although it shouldn’t be taken lightly. The max win has gotten a lot more desirable jumping from 2,500x to 6,000x. House of Doom 2 RTP is 96.25% and from our test session, the actual hit rate felt pretty decent too. Other than that, the bet range is 0.20 – 100 and House of Doom 2 The Crypt will be available on all devices.
You could say that House of Doom 2 The Crypt heavily focuses its bonus features on the wilds. This is also what we will begin with. There are four wilds, each of them being a certain female character. We got Fire Mistress, Metal Priestess, Queen of the Damned and Spirit of Unity.
• Fire Mistress awards a multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x.
• Metal Priestess converts all other high paying symbols into the Skull symbol, which has the highest value.
• Queen of the Damned turns all the reels into Spirit Gates if she lands on one as well.
• Spirit of Unity awards all other bonus modifiers, but it is only active during Crypt Spins.
Spirit Gate is the thing that activates the effect of this wilds. Spirit Gate randomly covers one of the reels, so you need to match the gate with the wild for the modifier to become active.
Even tough wilds are a big part of this slot, we cannot dismiss so good ole Free Spins. 3 scatters will trigger this House of Doom 2 bonus. During Free Spins more than one Spirit Gate can be active on a single spin. The active base game spirit will carry over to Free Spins. If the scatters land inside a Spirit Gate, the Free Spins will be upgraded to Crypt Spins. As mentioned, the Spirit of Unity can appear during these Crypt Spins, which triggers all of the wild modifiers. Crypt Spins can be triggered during base and bonus game.
Play’n GO love to rock on, so it was only time since we got a new rock/metal inspired slot. We weren’t really expecting a sequel, but here we are. House of Doom 2 The Crypt compared with the original House of Doom is a much more complete experience. It comes with improved payouts and better visuals, so all in all, we can call this a successful sequel. There are people, who hate heavy metal with passion, so chances are slim to none that they will enjoy House of Doom 2, but for those who enjoy this genre, House of Doom 2 The Crypt is just what the doctor ordered.
