There are a few explorers in video slots that have reached a legendary status of fame. Rich Wilde and Gonzo are two characters that may instantly come to mind. The original Gonzo’s Quest slot was released by NetEnt back in 2013. It reached massive success, and it’s still widely played to this day. After NetEnt acquired Red Tiger, both studios have been closely working together, sharing goals and ideas. One of their joint projects was the release of Gonzo’s Quest Megaways slot. Now, after roughly two additional years, we’re getting a new entry to the series called Gonzita’s Quest. Today we’ll answer all the necessary questions regarding this game. What kind of features does it offer? What is the max payout? And should I even play it? Let’s find out.
Gonzo has been exploring South America for years now and we have grown quite accustomed to him. Turns out that Gonzo also has a Gonzita. Red Tiger haven’t disclosed Gonzita’s link to Gonzo, so we’re not sure if they’re partners, siblings or just friends. We suppose it’s not that relevant, but we don’t mind a good backstory, Play’n GO did it well with their Rich and Cat Wilde idea, for comparison. Let’s see how much Gonzita’s Quest takes from the previous titles and how much new content it’s willing to produce.

Gonzita’s Quest Slot Review
Gameplay and Payouts
Gonzita’s Quest certainly has some of that classic vibe that previous games were known for. We’re once again heading to the jungle, searching for lost treasures in forgotten temples. Like before, we get this “blocky” visual presentation with Aztec-style slabs and statues. Gonzita herself is proudly standing next to the reels, the same way Gonzo did. Gonzita’s Quest is very similar to the other titles, but that’s pretty much what we expected for this sequel. Some players may like or dislike the lack of radical change, we suppose that comes down to your preference and loyalty to the original game.
Like we said, from the visual standpoint there aren’t any overly notable changes. We still get those blocky Aztec symbols, which depict animals and faces of what we assume are old Aztec gods. Gonzita’s Quest features 20 paylines, so the same setup it was on Gonzo’s Quest. Surprisingly, there are no Wild symbols on Gonzita’s Quest, which might sour the mood for some players.
As we expected, Gonzita’s Quest doesn’t overtake Megaways version in terms of potential. From 21,000x max win, we go to 2,580x, which is quite a drop, but it’s still bigger than the original game. Gonzita’s Quest also comes with medium-high volatility so once again it slots somewhere in the middle of these 3 games. The RTP is 95.66% which is the lowest amount in the series. You will be able to play Gonzita’s Quest on any smart device with a bet range of 0.10 – 40.
Gonzita’s Quest may not be a Megaways slot, but it does feature the same avalanche mechanism. This means that symbols fall in from above and fill in the empty spaces left by previous winning symbols, so in other words, it’s a bit of a Tetris effect.
The main deal in Gonzita’s Quest is the Free Spins bonus game. To get things rolling, we’ll need to land at least 3 Stone Slabs at once. Stone and other Slabs feature random multipliers. All slabs with multipliers will get locked into place and remain there for the entirety of the feature. There are also special Golden and Diamond Slabs which have a singular multiplier up to 750x! Gonzita herself occupies the whole middle reel and she too can have a multiplier attached.
Gonzo’s Quest is now a legendary name if we’re talking about casino games, so we’re not sure why there was a need to introduce a new character in such a way that Red Tiger did. Like we said, at least Play’n GO’s Wilde series made some sense, but this one is just a bit random. The game itself looks and feels alright. It’s very similar to the other games in the series, but that was pretty much expected. The gameplay is also fine, but it fails to really capture our interest for a long session of playing. After The Megaways release, this game just feels a bit underwhelming. We’re not sure if Gonzita will have another shot at this or if she even should. It’s fair to try this game out, but we think the appeal will quickly wear off.
