The original Burning Stars was released way back in 2014. We’ve come a long way since then. Multiple years of innovation have brought us fantastic new slots and also a couple of remakes and sequels. Burning Stars 3 keeps the classical feel, but it presents itself with an all-new modern style. If you look at the general trend, Wazdan love to do follow-ups for their games. To this date, we already have Magic Stars 9, which we believe proves the point. Burning Stars 3 is bringing a lot of changes, compared to the old title. It pretty much only carries the name, as almost everything has been altered. Perhaps it was better if the original Burning Stars was left alone, perhaps the new one will reap far larger success. We will try to find the answer to that shortly.
Wazdan are highly fond of the original fruit slots. A large proportion of their slots are based on fruit machines or at least they involve these classic symbols in some way. So the fruit fans will be delighted to hear that another such slot is coming their way. Quite frankly the difference between Burning Stars and Burning Stars 3 is night and day. The original title uses a 5x3 layout and there are no bonus features, plus its visual presentation is super simple. On the other hand Burning Stars 3 focuses more on classic fruit gaming, instead of the actual stars, so say goodbye to the old observatory. Let’s go through all parts of Burning Stars 3 and find our answer, which hides somewhere beyond the stars.

Burning Stars 3 Slot Review
Gameplay and Payouts
The obvious change is the game layout, which is now 3 reels and 3 rows, a much classical approach from Wazdan, but perhaps also a bit riskier, as the general approval for this layout has been dropping. Mysterious space-like visuals make up the background of Burning Stars 3. We also get the cliché fruit machine music, which can be muted if you don’t like it. It’s interesting how the original Burning Stars brought a totally different atmosphere. The music was merrier and the visuals were a lot more plain. It also made more sense, because it was about the observatory and stary skies. Of course, the quality has come a long way, so Burning Stars 3 graphically looks a lot better and it performs smoother too.
The 3x3 layout would suggest 9 lines right? Not the case on Burning Stars 3. Wins are made up of 4 or more identical symbols, which means that they do not need to be located on the same line. This creates an interesting playing experience, which feels like a mix of regular lines and clusters. There were no fruits before, but Burning Stars 3 has got plenty of them. In the following value order, we have a cherry, grape, lemon, orange, plum, watermelon and red seven symbol. That is 7 regular symbols in total, plus the wild, which substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. The largest Burning Stars 3 base game payout is 200x per spin if you manage to collect a full set of sevens.
When we get a sequel, we love to compare, because then it’s better understood which game from both is better. The payout stats have changed, but not drastically. The RTP of 96.12% is a bit lower than before, but not by much. The volatility is selectable this is also known as Volatility Levels, a trademark for all Wazdan games. So it is in your hands to pick between the low, medium or high level. This will affect the win frequency and how big are the wins on average. With help of Jackpot, players can reach a payout up to 2187x. Burning Stars 3 bet range is 0.10 – 100 EUR/GBP. The 3x3 model generally is perceived as the tougher ones, so make of that what you will.
Not always we are treated with a bonus feature when we play a fruit slot, but to our delight, Burning Stars 3 has a little surprise for us. Hold the Jackpot Bonus starts by drawing 3 Bonus symbols. These are bright and burning stars. The base model of the Burning Stars 3 bonus game is the “hold” mechanism, which has been called Hold and Win or Hold and Spin on some occasions. Regular symbols are removed and during 3 spins only bonus symbols can drop. The 3 initial bonus symbols are locked in at the start. For every new bonus symbol, respins reset back to 3. Bonus symbol payouts are the following:
• 3 Bonus symbols = 3x (a guaranteed win)
• 4 Bonus symbols = 9x
• 5 Bonus symbols = 27x
• 6 Bonus symbols = Mini Jackpot 81x
• 7 Bonus symbols = Minor Jackpot 243x
• 8 Bonus symbols = Major Jackpot 729x
• 9 Bonus symbols = Grand Jackpot 2187x (max win)
Hold the Jackpot bonus game can be purchased for 50x. This feature might not be available due to region restrictions.
It would almost make more sense to release this game as a separate title because there is so little that both of these games share. Some distant Burning Stars fan might stumble upon Burning Stars 3 and be totally disappointed to see that the sequel is nothing like the game they knew. Besides this, Burning Stars 3 is a good slot on its own. It’s a simple fruit machine based slot, but the additional Hold the Jackpot bonus brings a new and fresh degree of excitement.
