It’s almost a four-year difference between the original slot and the newer Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines. Both games, of course, are developed by Red Tiger, who are looking to revive one of their most classical slots – Rainbow Jackpots. Lucky Irish Leprechaun will once again take the main stage, hopefully making our time worthwhile.
Instead of getting the MegaWays treatment, Rainbow Jackpot is accompanied by the Powerlines. This comes with an increased size of the game layout and amount of paylines. Other than that, Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines doesn’t change up a whole lot, so you could bring up a question if this change was really necessary. Hopefully, we will find an answer to that shortly. Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines Slot Review
Design and Payout
As mentioned, there is a fairly big difference between the release dates for both games, so it’s good that Red Tiger made some improvements for the visual presentation, so the game wouldn’t be so outdated. Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines quality is a bit nicer, closer to what we are used to from Red Tiger. Pillars that hold the game layout are re-styled and so are the symbols. Overall, you could say that it feels more inviting. It’s quite unusual to see Rainbow Jackpots on such a big playground. If you’ve been playing Rainbow Jackpots in the past, then the new look does feel a bit odd at some points.
Let’s get out of the way everything that has been changed on Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines. Reel amount has been increased by 1 and rows can vary from 2-7, depending on what symbols you land during a spin. Row difference leads to variable paylines which can go from 4 to 49. Perhaps, we are not hitting the MegaWays numbers, but Powerlines also make up for an interesting experience. Last but not least, the RTP on Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines is slightly more generous than on the predecessor, being 95.68% opposed to the somewhat low 95.16%. This is where it gets a bit underwhelming. Rainbow Jackpot Powerlines come with the same 1000x max payout and medium-high volatility. Besides having slightly higher returns, Rainbow Jackpots Powerline is very similar to the same old package of 2016.
Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines comes with all the beloved bonus features. Lucky Leprechaun again blows his magical pipe, sometimes randomly gifting you some of the features. Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines features Free Spins and the improved Super Free Spins. We are also treated with the regular and Triple Beer Bonus, where pints of ale serve as multiplier rewards. Perhaps, the handiest feature for the big layout is the regular and Super Symbol Swap feature, which drops in huge blocks of symbols, sometimes covering almost all of the reels. Once again, if you are new to Rainbow Jackpot slots, then we recommend taking an in-depth look at these features on this review here! Original Rainbow Jackpot bonus features were a real treat back in the day, so no doubt that these features on Rainbow Jackpots Powerlines will attract old and new fans.
To answer the question, was this powerline remake really necessary? It’s hard to say for sure, as we believe that Rainbow Jackpots was a great classic on its own and it didn’t really need a follow-up. Of course, that is a subjective opinion, as there surely are players who will receive this new version with open arms. It’s great to once again enjoy the old theme, combined with those wonderful bonus features, but for that, we could have also just played the original Rainbow Jackpots.
