Rise of Egypt seems like a classic theme slot, but Playson has added few extra bits to make it more appealing. Step into the time portal and visit the temple of Bastet, an ancient goddess of cats.
In its core, it is a regular 5 X 3 layout slot with not too many paylines, to be more precise, 20. Just as you might suspect, scatters lead to free spins, but wilds do not just substitute symbols, they come with additional perks to increase the player's winning potential. It is time to head into the temple and see what lies ahead.
Rise of Egypt Review
Design and Payouts
Rise of Egypt supposedly is themed around the Ancient goddess of cats – Bastet. Suprisingly (or unsuprisingly), the slot has very little to do with actual cats, as the only reference is the statue of Bastet, which has a cat's head. It, of course, has very little significance, so let's get into things that really matter.
Staying on the topic of design, symbols look neat and uncomplicated. We've got four lesser ones that are J, Q, K, and A. Already value and look wise a step above - we have many sorts of hieroglyphs. In total, there are six of them. These symbols also have an additional role to serve later on. Wild symbol is a golden statue of the goddess. Finally, the Scatter symbol takes on a look of a three-dimensional pyramid, which also has a golden glow to it, perhaps a sign of things to come.
Let's get obvious out of the way, it is a 5 Reel 3 Row slot with 20 Paylines. The game's RTP is 95.82%. So far, pretty regular, it goes as one would expect. Now, perhaps the only disappointing factor would be the max payout, which reaches to 950x only. Of course, we have to take into account that Rise of Egypt is a medium-high volatility slot, so naturally, payouts are smaller than on very high volatility slots. Still, the hit rate is decent, so the game is rewarding enough. All around the Rise of Egypt is quite balanced, and you shouldn't be left with too many dry spells.
Rise of Egypt has two bonus features, one of them is the main Bonus itself, also known as Free Spins, and the other is the Expanding Wilds feature. Pretty self-explanatory, every time a Wild symbols drops, it expands to cover the whole reel, if it can compose a winning combination. Wild symbols only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4. Wilds drop with a fair frequency, so you should see plenty of them throughout the game.
Landing 3 Scatters, triggers Rise of Egypt Free Spins. The initial reward is 12 Free Spins. The rest of the core mechanics stay as they are during the bonus game, but there are two extra additions to the Free Spins. If you land a full reel Wild, then an extra free spin is added, limitation to this is 35 spins. Also, once you've acquired the full-reel Wild, the goddess of cats will use her sceptre to turn symbols with smaller payouts into symbols with higher payouts. It will help to create more winning combinations.
Rise of Egypt provides everything that you could expect from an Ancient Egyptian themed slot. It's a nice looking game, with some wonderful bonus additions, that will help to keep the slot relevant. From a technical standpoint, Rise of Egypt is as smooth as butter; it runs well with no interruptions. The max win ''only'' goes up to 950x, which is not terrible by any means, but it's very far from a jackpot type of win. Nonetheless, the slot will give you a fair shot to win well.
