Neon skies and futuristic vibes, the Night Trax slot pulls you into a night of colours. Another sci-fi neon slot you might say, well then, let us stop you right there because Night Trax is far from a regular slot. We have praised ELK Studios for their pledge of being unique, but when we found out about Night Trax, we felt a bit let down by the basic choice of the theme until we found out the way this slot functions. The pink neon city looks cool enough, but what more does it hide? Find out now!
Night Trax introduces “New Ways to Win”, a form of paylines that work differently from what we are accustomed to. We will get into the small print under the Bonus section, so feel free to jump straight to it if you want to find out more about the feature, otherwise, stick around to see the full inspection of Night Trax. Might we add, that it is great to see continuous innovation from the providers, so well done ELK Studios. Of course, not everything new is automatically great, so we will have to see to which camp does Night Trax belong.

Night Trax Slot Review
Gameplay and Payouts
The blue and pink neon goes together well. It’s the go-to colour combination in almost every sci-fi slot, as long as it is not about aliens, then it’s green all day. There is no fancy narrative, just a neon city, which we are going to race through. Besides the neon city scenery on the top, Night Trax looks really barebones. It’s a 6 reel and 4 row set up, so we are working with a significantly larger layout if you compare it to some other default settings. We also get a custom soundtrack were often enough, a voice reminds us of what game we are playing. It does get a bit redundant.
This is the part where we usually cover all of the game symbols. Including the Wild, Night Trax comes with 6 symbols. As stated, these symbols don’t work regularly. Five of the regular symbols are differently coloured lines or Trax. The most valuable symbol is the pink triple line. The wild symbol is a triangle with a “W” on it. In total there are 72 paylines on the Night Trax slot.
The last outing we had from ELK Studios was the Dream Diver slot. It had some interesting gameplay elements, but the potential wasn’t all high and mighty, in fact, it was one of the weaker ELK Studios slots if we strictly talk about payouts. Night Trax seems to be on the right tracks with a max win of 10,000x. It’s not all sunshine and butterflies either, because the RTP on this slot is 95%. That is significantly lower than what you would like, but let’s hope it won’t be a dealbreaker. Without any surprises, Night Trax is a high volatility slot. The bet range of 0.20 – 100 should bring no complaints from the players.
We’ve been beating around the bush for far too long now, so let us finally see what makes Night Trax so special. First of all, the wins aren’t made in a traditional way. You need to match the same type of arrows to make a steady line, that is at least 3 symbols long. So in a way, you can compare it with some of those labyrinth games, where you need to find your way from one side to the other. To make things a bit easier, wins can be made anywhere on the reels, meaning that the combination doesn’t need to start with the first, leftmost reel. All you need is to match at least 3 line symbols. The combinations can be made horizontally and diagonally.
Any successful payline will trigger the Trax Respin. The payline will be locked in while another spin commences, providing you with a new set of symbols. This can help you to build a longer combination. The respins continue until no new symbols are added to the line. On diagonal paylines, there is a chance that a Split can happen, sending the line in two different directions. Every Split adds 1x to the total multiplier.
To further play around with this mechanism, Night Trax offers a Bonus Game. It is triggered by 3 Bonus symbols. When the Bonus Game starts, these Bonus symbols convert to 3 different multipliers. The Bonus Game focuses on Sticky Multipliers and the combinations of lines. Players will start with 3 Free Spins, which are reset every time you land a multiplier. The base game symbols are dropped, instead only multipliers, blanks or one type of arrows drop. The arrows will help to connect the multiplier symbols, which increases the multiplier values when they interact with each other.
Like we said, when you first open up Night Trax, you don’t feel too excited with what you see. It seems like a basic looking sci-fi slot until you get into all those game mechanisms and features. It’s a really interesting concept, which we really enjoyed. We managed to trigger the bonus game quite easily, but the game tends to have its dry spells from time to time. We don’t think that this line concept will replace the traditional paylines and symbols, but if you are looking to try out something different then Night Trax is a fantastic game to try out.
