We all have our own interpretation of how a dream theme would look and sound, but we believe that ELK Studios have done a good job of reflecting the general idea. Dream Diver has that love and peace attitude, you know, on that was popularized by hippies in the 60’s and 70’s. Dream Diver does have a certain Magical Mystery Tour look to it, which makes sense because songs on that album were very popular among the movement. The actual Dream Diver music sounds more like the soundtrack you hear in teen movies, which are about college and the summer break. Instead, we see a grey-haired man sleeping in the bed with his cat.
The same visual design also applies to the Dream Diver symbols. The game itself is played out on a 5 reel 4 row layout which comes with 178 paylines, a bit of an odd number. There are just 7 regular symbols in total. They are styled as original fruit machine symbols, but, of course, the design follows the dreamy/hippie/fantasy look. You will find the classic fruits like cherry, orange, plum and apple as well the bell, red seven and the diamond. If it weren’t for the colours, it would be hard to distinguish these fruits.
You can’t dream forever, so at one point you have to wake up and face the harsh reality. Perhaps we are exaggerating a bit, but the payout stats for Dream Diver aren’t the nicest, especially if compared to some of the recently released ELK Studios games. The RTP is just 95%, which surprisingly low and the volatility is a medium (6/10) so also quite uncommon for the ELK. Dream Diver max win is 2,500x, which again, is not what we have seen in other recent games. It makes sense that payout is lower due to the medium volatility, but still, we are so accustomed to receiving stunning payouts from ELK Studios, that’s why 2,500x feels low, even though it’s a great win on its own.
Bonus Features
One certainty though is the fact that ELK Studios always provide a good amount of entertaining bonus features. The blue cat is the Dream Diver regular wild symbol, but for more serious wins, you’d best trigger the Stacked Wilds. These Stacked Wilds only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 and they always nudge to become fully visible. Their appearance also triggers a respin, which gives you a great chance to have another go with the 4-row high wild.
The path to success is in your hands, so to get the main Dream Diver Bonus Game, you will need to make an important decision. First of all, you need to land 3 Bonus symbols. This will trigger the Pick Me Feature. Then, you need to pick 1 of the 3 bonus symbols. Each symbol contains a hidden reward which could be an instant cash prize or the main Bonus Game.
Dream Diver Pick’n’Click Bonus Game consists of 6 levels. At each level, players are given 6 objects. Dream Diver definitely isn’t a nightmare in a disguise of a dream, but it’s also not a dream u wouldn’t want to wake up from. The true visual beauty of the game starts with the bonus game because there we can see more animations and sceneries. The Dream Diver main game is just okay-looking to be fair. Potential wise, Dream Diver is quite the step back from what we are used to from ELK Studios, although, as we said, 2,500x isn’t a bad max win, we were just expecting more. For what it’s worth the Pick’n’Click bonus game is quite entertaining, it’s just a shame, that ELK Studios sacrificed the payouts stats in the process. Still, you can expect some decent wins, just keep your expectations realistic.
