Almost every slot provider has at least one Ancient Egypt themed slot, which is most likely a book slot too. Playson aren’t making an exception in this regard. One such slot was Book of Gold: Double Chance which came out in 2018. Afterwards, we saw a couple of remakes like Book of Gold: Classic, Book of Gold Multichance and Book of Gold: Symbol Choice. It’s a fairly successful series, as Book of Gold: Classic is one of their “best-selling” slots and it is widely played even to this day. After four comes five because Playson are not done with Book of Gold just yet. Book of Gold 2: Double Hit is the latest follow up and we are interested to see, what’s special about this one.
For some players, one slot is not enough. They want to win and they want to win big, so why waste time with just one slot, right? Well, if you’ve ever said these words, then Playson have heard you because they have taken their classic Book of Gold slot and turned it into two. That’s right Book of Gold 2: Double Hit has two independent game layouts, which come with their own set of symbols on each spin. These aren’t just simply two game layouts, they can also work together, to create even bigger chances for you – the player. Find out how this slot works.

Book of Gold 2 Slot Review
Gameplay and Payouts
It’s still the same old Egypt so visually don’t expect a whole new world. These Book of Gold slots always have shared a common look, but if we have to choose then Book of Gold 2: Double Hit visually is the closest to Book of Gold Double Chance. It’s a hallway in a tomb with strong and tall pillars on the side. Book of Gold 2 plays with the contrast on reddish-orange and deep blue, seemingly imitating 2 sides of the game. Two 5 by 3 game layouts are located one above the other. Visually, Playson could have done more, but Book of Gold slots are not famous for their looks so it’s not like we are disappointed.
Both game layouts have 10 individual paylines, so basically two standard sets. Symbols are another thing that has seen almost no change on all versions of the game, but let’s go through them anyway, to refresh our memory. The best chances are made from high symbols, which here would be the Ankh, Eye of Horus, the God Ra and a portrait of Pharoah. Book of Gold 2: Double Hit low symbols are the basic 10, J, Q, K and A. As far as Egyptian slots go, these symbols are quite nice, but they have seen no change, which is a bit boring.
Mostly, also payout stats have been brought over from Book of Gold: Classic. Like almost all such games the volatility on Book of Gold 2: Double Hit is high. The RTP, unfortunately, still is below that 96 mark, but 95.52% is not too bad either. The max win for this slot can reach over 5,000x. When we say over, we mean up to 135x more, so more or less the same treatment that we got before. Don’t get it wrong, it’s great potential, and we are glad to see it back. Book of Gold 2: Double Hit will be available on all devices. The bet range is 0.20 – 100.
The books serve as scatters. The main bonus feature still is Free Spins and yes, 3 or more scatters are necessary for you to play it. The Free Spins trigger for each layout independently, so you need to get at least 6 scatters (3 per each) to score Free Spins on both fields. If you do it simultaneously then instead of the regular 10 Free Spins you are awarded 20 Free Spins. If you have triggered Free Spin on one field only, then during the Free Spins, there is a much higher chance to land 3 scatters on the other field. The Book of Gold 2: Double Hit Free Spins utilize the Expanding symbol mechanism, meaning that one random symbol will be picked at the beginning of Free Spins to serve as the special expanding symbol. Once this symbol lands, it expands to cover the whole reel.
It’s actually surprising how you can take one slot and then twist it in so many different ways. It’s quite impressive what Playson are doing, coming up with all these ideas and all. Even though the Book of Gold series is quite successful, you have to wonder, are they starting to milk it a bit? We are sure there will be different opinions about it, so we will leave that final word to you. Book of Gold 2: Double Hit is an interesting approach and we surely know players who will enjoy playing two slots at once.
