Red Tiger has partnered up with R7 Studio to create a new video slot called Aztec Spins. As you can already tell from the title, the game is themed around ancient Mexico, where Aztecs used to live. Land of Aztecs is mysterious and beautiful and it hides many treasures for you to discover.
Aztec Spins is a 6 Reel x 4 Row, high volatility game, with many additional bonus features to keep the game exciting. On Aztec Spins, wins pay both ways as opposed to classical left to right. So, we’re about to find out how good it is.
Aztec Spins Review
Game Layout: 6 Reels x 4 Rows Release date: 28 May 2020 Gameplay and Design
Once you open up Aztec Spins, straight away, the focus is on the big wheel in the background. That wheel is one of the bonus features, which we will cover slightly later. The game layout seems quite a bit larger than usual with the added row and reel. We can see plenty of shiny gems around and the golden borders that engulf the reels look really nice. Further, in the background, we see the ancient remains of an Aztec settlement.
The general look and the music of the Aztec Spins create a very immersive experience. Even though the game doesn’t have stunning visual effects, it looks quite enjoyable. Aztec Spins run well, as do pretty much all Red Tiger games. The slot has a classical feel to it, this is especially enhanced by little quirky sound effects.
Symbols and Payouts
High pay symbols are all Aztec themed. The best symbol in the Aztec Spins is the golden pyramid after that comes a mask, then an emblem with two serpents, Aztec man and then some sort of emblem, with an eye in the middle. These symbols aren’t as straightforward as usual, but so is the Aztec world. Lower symbols are royals which are also Aztec styled.
Time to get into all the parameters of the Aztec Spins. In total there are 30 win lines and, as already mentioned, winning combinations are paid out from both sides left to right and right to left. Volatility is rated 5/5 by Red Tiger and the Hit Rate is 2/5. This means that, in general, there won’t be that many small wins, but there is a great chance to land a big one. With 4,900x max payout, Aztec Spins does hold some impressive treasures after all.
Not necessarily leaving worst the last, but if we talk about RTP rating of 95.71%, it falls slightly below the average. Bet range is quite small as well, going from 0.20 to 20EUR. But if we look at all of this information together, Aztec Spins is an all-around decent game, with a pretty balanced setup.
Bonus Features
This is probably the part you were waiting for, what is up with that big wheel in the background of Aztec Spins. It is called the Aztec Wheel and it exclusively provides all the bonus game features. It’s quite similar to the ones you see on game shows, but this time it’s Aztec themed. To trigger this feature, the player must land the full 2 x 2 Aztec wheel symbol on the 3 and 4 reels. After that, you are given a single spin to decide what kind of bonus feature you get.
There are four additional features you can get on the wheel, one of them is the Locked Symbols feature. When the wheel stops on any regular symbol, this specific symbol is then filled out reel 3 and 4 and lock itself there. Any new winning symbols on the next spins are also locked in.

We continue with the Stacking Multiplier. Once this bonus feature has landed, you are given a 10x multiplier for your next spin. This multiplier will be active as long as you get a win. Here is where it gets interesting. If you get another Aztec Wheel before you score a win, there is a chance to score an additional 10x that then adds up to 20x for the next win. This can go up to 30x. After that multiplier section is replaced with Wheel Respin. When landed, it simply respins the wheel again for another feature.

The big prize to hit on Aztec Spins is the Free Spins. Once that happens, you are given 12 Free Spins and the hit rate for a new Aztec Wheel increases immensely. Triggering the Free Spins feature again award an extra 6 spins.

Conclusion
Aztec Spins can be fun and rewarding on a good day. This is not the Red Tiger’s worst or the best, it’s simply a solid game that brings in some distinctive features. Aztec Wheel is the main selling point here, as, without it, the game would be a bit bland. But the wheel is there so we are sure that many players will enjoy the thrills that it may bring.
